I love this quote! I remember reading it when I was only about 10 and being shocked by the trueness of it. I'd always thought courage was going into battle or something and never thought how it took courage to stand up to my friends. I was the kind of kid who let people walk all over them and this quote helped me to stand up for myself.

And it is so true.. it is the hardest to stand up to your friends.. it's good that you learned it early!
